Michael Brody writes screenplays full time, crafting character-driven stories that explore moral pressure, loyalty, and consequence. He has been hired to write original screenplays and pilots, as well as polish existing scripts. Currently based in the Pacific Northwest, he spent most of his life in Los Angeles and Colorado.
Throughout his life, Brody has been drawn to stories of ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances, believing that lives don’t change because people plan them to. They change because people collide.
He’s particularly haunted by the struggles of crime victims and the wrongfully convicted as they work to overcome tragedy – the resilience required and the impossible choices they face. While he hopes never to confront such decisions himself, the characters he creates do. Through them, he finds balance.
“I may not be able to solve the world’s problems,” Brody says, “but I can bring awareness to these struggles through storytelling.” His work spans political thrillers, grounded dramas, and contemporary suspense, always centering on the human cost of difficult choices.
Experience
Michael Brody was hired to write the action/comedy The B Team for veteran actress/producer Alexandra Paul (five years on Baywatch, over 60 feature films).
He was also hired to write a feature and a pilot for actor/director Rockmond Dunbar (Prison Break, Sons of Anarchy, The Mentalist, 9-1-1).
More recently, Brody was hired by Intrinsic Value Films to write a biopic of a literary icon from the 1970s and subsequently hired to polish the powerful true story of an Iranian student imprisoned in the 1990s.
Productions & Options
Article 19, a near future political thriller is in development with Double Nickel Entertainment.
Table 47, the film noir screenplay Brody wrote, was produced and released on Amazon Prime.
Two scripts purchased by Joel Reisig of JPR Studios in 2024: one is in post-production, the other is set to film later this year.
Date with Destiny, a romance/fantasy script, was a finalist in the Romance Film Festival and was previously optioned.
Tranquility Bay, a thriller/horror film Brody co-wrote, was optioned in November 2024.
Awards & Recognition
Somniphobia, a psychological thriller, won silver in the International Page Awards and was a finalist in the Emerging Screenwriters contest.
Mr. Bojangles: Top 2% on Coverfly, Emerging Screenwriters Semifinalist and Page Awards semifinalist.
